Date: Saturday, May 9, 2020
Time: Opening ceremony and official round begins at 12:00pm, please arrive
at least 30 minutes early for equipment inspection.
Location: “The Pit,” 13900 Hull Street Road, Midlothian, VA (see directions below)
Fees: $45 per archer, family rates available (see form for rates)
Questions: Melody Scott, goldenarrowarchers@gmail.com

Format: This tournament will consist of 72 arrows shot at a single distance (qualifier style round) in six arrow ends using two lines of archers (AB/CD). See the distance and target face chart below to find what you will be shooting. USA Archery membership is required to participate in this event. Visit www.usaarchery.org for membership information. Awards will be presented immediately following the event once all scorecards are verified.

Registration: Registrations will be taken online only using the form on this page below. No walk up registrations will be accepted on the day of the shoot unless previous arrangements have been made. If you have trouble with the online registration system, please contact us at goldenarrowarchers@gmail.com.

Check-In: There is no official check in for this event. Lane assignments will be posted at the DOS stand and equipment inspections will take place by a designated judge on the range at least 30 minutes prior to shoot time. Please plan to arrive no later than 11:30am for set up and inspections.

Practice: We generally have the range open for unofficial practice from 10:30am to 11:30am, at which time the range will close so judges and officials can prepare for the tournament to begin. Unofficial practice time is not guaranteed and is subject to range and personnel availability. Two ends of official practice will start immediately after the opening ceremonies and announcements at 12:00 noon.

Rules: All FITA rules and regulations will apply. USA Archery rules and dress code will be in effect. Dress code will be strictly enforced (closed toed shoes, no camo clothing, shorts and skirts must be mid thigh length, no tank tops, etc). Go to www.usaarchery.org for details. Simple calculators are welcome during scoring, however no other electronic devices are allowed past the waiting line.

Food/Drinks: Several fast food and other restaurants are also available in the area immediately surrounding the venue, a very short drive away. No food or drinks will be available on site. Please bring plenty of water, there is no running water on site to refill water bottles.

Facilities: No seating is available; please bring your own folding or camp-style chair for all archers and spectators. If it is not raining we ask spectators to NOT use pop-up canopies – there are lots of trees for shade in the spectator area but they create limited space for large canopies. Archers may bring pop-up canopies for the archer area (some will be provided, please plan to share with others too!). Spectator space is somewhat limited due to the trees and there is no archer equipment area so your bow must stay with you, please plan your personal belongings accordingly. Several Porta-johns will be available on site, there is no running water. The path to the range has been upgraded with crushed gravel dust and a beautiful bridge this year, making it fully ADA accessible!

Inclement Weather: Archery generally takes place rain or shine. However, if severe weather strikes before the tournament start time and is expected to last most of the day, the tournament may be postponed until Sunday, May 12th. If severe weather happens any time after the scoring has already begun, the shooting may be delayed and/or ended early depending on the judges’ and officials’ safety determinations. No shelter is available on site, archers and spectators are asked to take shelter in their vehicles in the event of severe weather. No refunds will be given for delays or early finishes once scoring has begun.

Refunds: Things come up and accidents and illness happen. We will gladly process a cancellation and refund request up to 5pm on April 26, 2019. After that time, no refunds will be given, however you may transfer your registration to another archer of the same bow type and shooting distance. If you would like to cancel or transfer your registration, please email goldenarrowarchers@gmail.com.

Getting Here: Follow directions from the internet or your favorite GPS system to the Chesterfield Career and Technical Center located at 13900 Hull Street Road in Midlothian, VA. From Hull Street Road, turn into the Chesterfield Career and Technical Center at the intersection of Hull Street Road and Chital Drive (there is a traffic light). Proceed to the back of the paved parking lot, then turn right. Follow the drive that goes along the side of the football stadium and park anywhere along the right by the pickleball courts. Slightly closer parking is available behind the football stadium which we ask able-bodied archers leave for those with mobility and accessibility needs, and archers and equipment may be dropped off in that area before parking. Follow the signed trail through the woods and walk down to the archery range. See map below for more details.
