Recurve and Modern Barebow

Tuning Clinic

When: Friday, July 5, 2019

Times: 5:30-7pm

Cost: $15 per archer

Where: The Pit, 13900 Hull Street Road, Midlothian, VA (directions below)

Coach Melody Scott is offering this beginner level tuning clinic for all Olympic Recurve and Modern Barebow style archers who want to learn the basics of tuning their bow and arrow set up. This class will cover some basic information about things like arrow spine, brace height, center shot, and plunger tension. Archers will learn how to adjust their plungers and will shoot bareshafts to test spine and tune their arrows. This will be a hands-on class with archers doing most of their own tuning under the guidance of the coach. Young archers are encouraged to have a parent stay and participate in helping them tune their bow and all understanding the process.

Participating archers must bring their own equipment and must have a cushion plunger and arrow rest. Archers should come with 2-3 un-fletched bareshaft arrows and 5 or more fletched arrows. Bring any tools, spare parts, or accessories that came with your bow, plunger, and other shooting equipment, especially hex wrenches and bow stringers. Archers should be able to shoot a good group of arrows at 15m in order to effectively use tuning techniques.
